Richard Harris appointed Director for Europe HMI Technologies is pleased to announce that Richard Harris has joined the HMI Technologies Executive Team as Director Europe. Richard is internationally recognized as a leading expert in Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS). His experience spans more than 30 years with senior positions in companies and industry associations as well as major contracts including game changing European Commission projects. A specialist in transport related end-user services, route guidance systems, in-vehicle and cooperative systems, information presentation, construction and maintenance of large-scale information databases and data collection. He has a broad range of practical experience including achieving policy and business outcomes of traffic management and information systems, public transport services, enforcement and traveller behaviour, freight and logistics including secure truck parking, and demand management measures including road pricing and payment systems. Richard is also a leading advocate for Mobility as a Service. He has held senior director positions with Xerox, Logica, WSP, AECOM and ICC with responsibility for a range of activities including project management, business development, industry relations, strategy and thought leadership. The author of more than four hundred publications, articles, blogs, presentations, videos and digital publications presented at international conferences in 47 countries. Richard was inducted into the ITS World Congress Hall of Fame in 2015 as the recipient of the life time achievement award. His citation read ‘An effective and charismatic champion and thought-leader for ITS for over 25 years who selflessly promotes ITS in general, without commercial considerations or bias.
